How the Century Corona Metal Cased Ballast works:
The Century Corona Metal Cased Ballast converts mains electricity to the correct voltage and current to start-up and power a 1000 Watt HPS or MH lamp by using a traditional magnetic core & coil system. High quality circuitry is included and the ballast will not fire-up a hot lamp until it has cooled down, nor will it try to start a faulty lamp. The ballast has a strong metal case which is vented for cooler running.

Using the Century Corona Metal Cased Ballast:

The Century Corona Metal Cased Ballast runs warm in use and should be located on a flat, firm, surface (not carpet) in a well ventilated place. The ballast should never be covered and there should be no combustible items in the vicinity. Connect the input lead of your reflector to the output lead of the ballast ensuring the cable is not pulled tight and does not come into contact with anything hot (e.g. lamp, reflector, ballast). Ensure your lamp is tightly screwed into the bulb-holder and that your reflector is at the correct height.

The wattage of your ballast MUST match the wattage of the lamp you are using or there will be a high risk of fires or equipment damage. Always consider the inrush current drawn by a ballast when it is switched on. Your mains supply may trip out if several come on at the same time. Connect the mains plug into an electrical outlet socket and switch on. The ballast will start-up and light the lamp. Please note that in the event of an interruption to the mains supply, the ballast may not be able to restart the lamp until it has cooled back down. In the event that the ballast should overheat it will switch itself off. Always leave the Century Corona Ballast plugged in for at least 3 minutes after switching off to allow it to discharge.
